Throughout this book Patrick goes on to explain what works and what doesn’t in a clear-cut and effective manner.
Managing Online Forums was written as a guide for new, old, and current forum administrators who want to take their website/forum to a higher level. By using this book administrators can achieve a well run, money making, and professional looking online community.
The book is written from the author’s perspective and includes occasional comical remarks cleverly embedded into its text. Thus adding a little bit of fun to a serious subject.
Despite this books focus on forums it reaches many levels beyond that in its key concepts such as: online marketing and promotion, dealing with both staff and website users, making money online, and much more.
The writing style implemented in this book is to be reckoned with by many of the top authors of today. Instead of Sugar Coating concepts with unnecessary images and distracting fonts Patrick O’Keefe has chosen to present his material in an easy to read, coherent manner that “just plain makes sense.” However I would like to compliment the author on his choice in cover designer. To me the book jacket captures true balance between simplicity and aesthetics. Even though many of our parents always told us not to judge a book by its cover, I think I’d be willing to do just the opposite of that in this case. For content and looks I would definitely not let this book get by my radar.
